Here are some Notable Quotes worthy of repeating –

“Revival history shows again and again that if there are two key elements to obtaining true Revival, they would have to be DEEP REPENTANCE and ‘AGONIZING’ PRAYER. Frank Bartleman (a leader in the famous Azusa Street Revival) wrote: “I received from God early in 1905 the following keynote to revival: `THE DEPTH OF REVIVAL WILL BE DETERMINED EXACTLY BY THE DEPTH OF THE SPIRIT OF REPENTANCE’. And this will obtain for all people, at all times.” So we must certainly remember that deep repentance lies at the heart of true Revival. But the other thing that Bartleman emphasised in his book was the hours of agonizing travail and intercession they went through before Revival hit.” – Andrew Strom

“When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, ‘Repent,’ he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.” – Martin Luther, the first of the 95 Theses
“I began to understand that “the justice of God” meant that justice by which the just man lives through God’s gift, namely faith. This is what it means: the justice of God is revealed by the gospel, a passive justice with which the merciful God justifies us by faith, as it is written: ‘He who through faith is just shall live.’ Here I felt that I was altogether born again and had entered paradise itself through open gates.” – Martin Luther, 1545

“Any clergy-laity distinction that elevates a priestly class, or an office, whether it is called bishop or senior pastor, over Christ’s immediate rulership of His people is of the spirit of anti-Christ.” (David Orton – ‘Snakes in the Temple’)

“The fact is when a man gets to the place where he really loves obscurity, where he does not care to preach, and where he would rather sit in the backseat than on the platform, then God can lift him up and use him, and not very much before.” (Frank Bartleman – ‘Azusa Street’ p. 124)

“A true spiritual awakening that endures is grounded deeply in well-thought-out biblical truth. Only when revival roots sink deep into the scriptures and draw their nourishment from God’s Word does revival last.” (Charles. G. Finney – ‘The life and ministry of Charles G. Finney’)

”I ask that men make no reference to my name, and call themselves not Lutherans, but Christians. What is Luther? My doctrine, I am sure, is not mine, nor have I been crucified for anyone. St. Paul, in 1 Cor 3, would not allow Christians to call themselves Pauline or Petrine, but Christian. How then should I, poor, foul carcass that I am, come to have men give to the children of Christ a name derived from my worthless name? No, no, my dear friends; let us abolish all party names, and call ourselves Christians after Him whose doctrine we have.” (Martin Luther)

“Only wrestle in prayer, meet together in your houses, go to your private room, be instant, be earnest in season and out of season, agonize for souls, and all that you have heard shall be forgotten in what ye shall see; and all that others have told you shall be as nothing compared with what ye shall hear with your ears and behold with your eyes in your own midst.” (Charles H. Spurgeon – ‘Revival year sermons’)

“The gospel is not a set of doctrines, but a redeemed lifestyle reflecting God’s qualities.” (Wolfgang Simson)

57-0306 GOD KEEPS HIS WORD #1 E-46 † “Brother Branham, what do you think about these ministers that’s teaching that?” I believe they’re God’s servants; certainly I do. I believe that they’re men of God, I believe they’re fine preachers, can out-preach me any time. And God favors them, but they just got on the wrong road. That’s all. It’s just the wrong thing, brother. It isn’t in God’s Word; it doesn’t flash on the Urim Thummim. And there’s not a scholar in the world can place it on the Urim Thummim, sensibly, and run it through the Bible like you can on Divine healing and other things like that.
Then what am I here for? I’m here to help you. I’m here to try to get you to go back to your church, go back. And if you pastors are here and fell in error, repent, and go to your pulpit and say, “Church, we’re coming back to God.” And have an old fashion revival. And quit fussing with your neighbor across the other way. If he don’t believe just like you, shake hands with him, and be a brother anyhow.

« E-47 † Mix up yourselves together, and have union revivals; get preachers who stays with God’s Word, and not scattered about here. Read the Word. Some of you don’t read the Word once a week. You ought to read chapter after chapter every day. Meditate; if you’d get your head out of them old magazines and things you’re reading, and out of this old, so many papers, and so called religious literature that oughtn’t to never be on the market… That’s just as bad as reading some of the other magazines, stuff that’s false doctrine, and all kinds of dogma, and basing it upon the–on truth. Why, doctrine can’t be based upon some experience. Doctrine is based on God’s Word, not on experience. People can have experiences of everything.

    A Hidden Life
    79
Now, notice, the first thing was a refreshment. What makes the seed
grow? Did you ever get up of a morning and find the dew that fell down
from heaven and refreshes the earth? How does it refresh it? When it’s at
peace. The dew don’t fall in daytime. The dew falls in the nighttime,
when everything is at peace. The dew can never fall on you, my brother,
as long as you’re fussing, and arguing, and stewing about the things here
on this earth. Get alone with God and let the dewdrops of mercy fall
    upon you in the stillness.
    80
Precious memories, how they linger, how they ever fill my soul; in
the stillness of the midnight secrets unfold. How that God can get His
believer with the curtains dropped around him alone to himself, He will
bring down a refreshing from heaven, that there’s no other person, or no
other way in the world to ever know it, only he that’s laying there.
    81
Did you ever walk out of a morning in that real fresh, cool feeling?
God has refreshed His earth. Fragrance: Did you ever go into a rose
garden? Down my place they got a lot of honeysuckles. The honeysuckle
don’t smell much along in the heat of the day, but it’s early of a morning,
when all the air has been purified, then that aroma of the honeysuckle. . .
Let a man be out fussing, fighting, stewing, and you’ll never get much of
aroma from that of the gospel, but let him get alone one time in the
    stillness of God.
    82
Every man that comes to the pulpit ought to dwell alone first. Then
comes the fruits, yielding forth its fruits. Every man that stays in the
presence of God, into this great secret place, hid away will yield the
fruits of righteousness, peace, love, joy, longsuffering, goodness,
gentleness, patience. Don’t fuss about these other things. Get that in your
life, and you’ll never get it until you hide away with God into that land
    of adoption.

  3. PaulGriffin says:

That’s why the great revival broke out in England. The Anglican church had it so complicated, only the educated could understand it. And God, when the church gets in that condition, God always sends a revival of simplicity and breaks the thing to pieces. That’s right. That’s what we need today is the simpleness. That’s what the nation needs today, is the simplicity of faith in Christ to surrender themselves unselfishly with their whole heart, soul, and mind, and all they are to the Lord Jesus. Just simple, you don’t have to learn nothing at all; just believe that Jesus died to give you the blessing. Then it’s yours by faith as soon as you pick up the hyssop faith and apply the blood, something happens in every man’s heart or woman that does that. Amen. I feel religious right now. Yes, sir, because I know that that is the truth. If it saved me, it’ll save anybody. The Blood of Jesus Christ. – God’s Provided Approach to Divine Fellowship 1960

23     “Many of the churches have closed communion; that is, just to their own church when they have their communion. But here we are not a denomination. We have a open communion for all, for we believe that every believer has a right to the table of the Lord and to fellowship around the good things of God with every believer, regardless of creed, color, or whatever he may be, that all have been made drink of the selfsame blessing: Christ.”

    THE.GREAT.COMMISSION_ CHATTANOOGA.TN SATURDAY_ 58-0301B
…..If the devil can keep us separated, he–he’s got us shooting at one another, so he–he–he’s got a open target anywhere he wants to shoot. And what’s the use of shooting, we’re shooting one another? See, see? So he can just set back and relax.

But did you ever… Let me just give you… If I have found grace in your sight through God, you take my word for this, brethren. If you want to be a blessing, and get a blessing, when a man has done you wrong, and he has absolutely justly, he… I mean he has done you wrong and you know that he’s done you wrong; he’s done you evil. Don’t mention that; you take him to prayer before God. And don’t take it in a way of just a selfish and say, “Well, I’m supposed to do this.” But stand with your shoulder to his shoulder, and stand in the Presence of God our Father, way a prayer should be made in the Presence of God, say, “Father, here’s my brother, and he–he is justly; he deserves punishment because he has–he’s done me evil. And I don’t see why he did it.”

Then let God go to talking to you. And you’ll see maybe, what that man’s been through. The devil has twisted him up somewhere and caused him to do that. Though he’s absolutely wrong, before you leave the throne of God you’ll be feeling sorry for that man. You’ll be sympathizing with that brother. And when you get back down to where–earth again, you’ll go over to that brother and shake his hand, ’cause you know what he’s been through. You can’t stand with a mortal in the Presence of God and condemn anybody, I don’t believe, no, sir, even if he is a rank sinner.

And what about a brother that has made a mistake? Though I say he’s wrong. Sometimes he’s accused wrong when he’s not wrong. But if he is wrong, well, if we will take him to the throne of God, stand there shoulder-to-shoulder with our brother, knowing he’s a mortal, and maybe his destination rests upon our attitude towards him, when we come back from the throne of God, we’ll realize that we’re every one guilty, and we all need help one from the other. And the best way to do is pray.

  5. PaulGriffin says:

    54-0401 GOD’S.PREPARATION_ LOUISVILLE.KY THURSDAY_
« E-23 † One man one time by the name of David, who could’ve killed his enemy; God led him right up to the enemy, and the man that was searching for his life, and his–even his general said, “God has delivered him into your hands; take his life.” And he cut the piece off of his coat, went back up, he said, “God forbid that I touch His anointed.” That’s right.
So don’t–don’t say nothing evil about Christians. Don’t try to harm Christians, ’cause you’ll reap what you sow every time. “Touch not My anointed; do My prophets no harm. For it was far better for you that your–that you’d have millstone tied at your neck and drowned in the depths of the sea, than to offend My anointed.” Is that right?
So don’t say nothing about Christians. Maybe some of them don’t live just right, or do just right, but that–that’s God’s child. Let–let the Father take care of His own kiddies. You know? If we go to fighting one another, God give us both a whipping, maybe. So let’s–let’s just leave the other fellow alone and pray for him. Try to love him and correct him and maybe God will help him.

164 So, brother, we can bounce ourself in by organization. That’s all we got. We bear organizational fruits. We bear organizational evidence. But if you’ve come forth in the Vine, and it puts you forth, a new creature in Christ, you’ll bear the life of Christ. So help me, you will. Right. You’ll have the same experience they had in the beginning. Amen. I know it’s the truth.

165 The denominations look for the intellectuals. The trouble, we Pentecostals, we look so much for rushing wind, we miss the still small Voice. That’s just what it is. See? Yes, sir. It’s unexpected, sometime. If it ain’t got a still small Voice in it, well… Or, has It in there, well, we don’t want to accept It. Sometime a real good teaching, sometime, they just cuts us to pieces, kind of ruffle our feathers up a little bit, you know. Sometimes that helps us a little bit. You know that’s true. [Blank.spot.on.tape–Ed.] It’s the truth, yes, sir, something that’ll help us, do us good.

166 Now, Elijah had heard rushing winds, and he knowed that was God out there, or something going by. He heard rains, everything. But what alarmed him was when He come in that still small Voice. He had seen Him come in the rain. He’d seen Him come in the fire, even. He heard the winds. And he heard the rain. He heard the fire, and seen the fire, and all. But he was alarmed when that still small Voice came. So he put a veil over his face and walked out. Oh, brother, that’s it.
167 What we ought to do is listen way down deep in our heart till we hear the Voice of God, then walk out on it, believe that it is true. Yes, sir.
168 I, but I wonder today, brother, if we’re failing to recognize, yet, among us the Holy Spirit. I wonder if the people in our attitudes today, if we don’t fail to recognize that this is the Holy Spirit. See?

  7. PaulGriffin says:

    63-1112 SIR.WE.WOULD.SEE.JESUS_ NEW.YORK.NY V-18 N-7 TUESDAY_
63 Well, did you notice they come to a servant of Christ, who had been trained to know what to do. Not to just say, “Sit down. Say, wait now! You sit down here, I’ll explain it.” No, he brought them right straight to Him, ’cause that’s what they wanted to see. They, they said, “We would see Jesus.” Not, “We’d like for you to explain It to us and tell us what It’s all about.” That wasn’t the question. But they wanted to see Jesus. And they… God had someone standing there, Philip, that could take them and show them to the Person, Jesus Christ.
64 Now that’s what we want to see. We want to see the Person. You say, “Well, Brother Branham, we will see Him when He comes.” Yes, but He promised that He, in the Person of the Holy Spirit, would come in the last days and would be with us, even in us, to the end of the world. And the things that He did, we would do also. He said, in Hebrews 13:8, as I have quoted that, “He is the–the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Now there would only be one way to know what He is today.
65 We find we couldn’t find Him in fine lecturers, ’cause we find people who can stand up and can explain the Word in such a way, it’s just breathtaking. But when we find it, it’s still just a lecture. See, just a lecture, it’s the mechanics. And we find the entertainer who can go through all the actions, and so forth, but that still isn’t it. We, that isn’t what we’re looking for. We find the religious type, with their robes on, and so forth, that still isn’t what we’re looking for. See? No.
66 We’re looking for the Person, Jesus Christ. See, the Person, Jesus Christ! Now, if the Bible said, “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever,” then He must be that, or the Bible said something wrong. Then, I don’t believe God would judge the world by anything wrong.
67 Then where we at again? See, we’re all out in a muddle again, because there is everything, this church says, “we got It,” and, “we got It,” and, “we got It,” and so forth. But if you’ve got It, you would show It, that’s right, see, the Person, Christ Jesus.
68 Now the only true way to find out what He is, is find out what He was, see, because He is unchangeable. God can never change. He has never changed. “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” He must ever remain the same. His Word must remain the same. His plans must ever be the same.
69 Now we have tried everything in the world, to get by, away from His plans. But it still remains, His is the only way. Men has tried to make a way to educate men to fellowship; it failed. We’ve tried to denominate them to fellowship; it failed. God has one place that He meets men, that’s under the Blood. And outside of that… There is no failing. That’s right. You got, must have, under the Blood.70 Now, if a Catholic priest, an Orthodox Jew, and a Nazarene, and a Pilgrim Holiness, and a Pentecostal, can stand out here in their denominations and fuss with one another, all day long, and claim how greater each is, and so forth; but let them all come beneath that Blood and kneel beneath the cross, they got their arms around one another, and they are brothers because they have–they have things in common. And that’s one thing that every born-again believer has in common, is the Blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses them.

e-41 Except the love of God abides in your heart, with love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, meekness, gentleness, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit living in your life, no matter what demonstration you done, it’s no good. Why do you think, that Christ’s Church divided? Do you think Christ wants one little cult over here, calling this one’s a buzzard’s roost, and that one calling them everything else? Do you think the Spirit of Christ does that? Never. We are brothers. By your fruits you’re known. Amen.
Oh, my, how that hurts me in my heart, but brother it’s the truth. It’s off my shoulders, anyhow. Now, I have to answer–won’t have to answer for that, ’cause I’ve told it. All right. Just look the way it runs, you can see whether Christ is in it or not. See? It’s Satan moved in, blindfolding the people.

E-34 But I don’t mean to hurt you; I mean that we get this straightened out. You’ll see one of the greatest revivals that ever swept the country. That’s right. We get back to the starting place, begin right. There’s only one thing to do; that’s come back, if you see you hit the wrong road, make back-tracks, go back and see where you started from.
Man usually, when he’s borned in the Kingdom of God, his face set right straight towards Calvary. Now, if he’s just a little bit emotional, he will go off on fanaticism. If He’s just a little bit his shrewd education, he will get so starchy, that he sets over on this side. That’s right. But the true Church of the living God, goes right down to the center of the highway, preaching a sane solid Gospel, calling from both sides. Amen.
That’s what we need today, a church that he wouldn’t be ashamed for anyone to come into. It’s perfectly governed by the Holy Spirit, no fanaticism, no starchy, just a good warm church, filled with God’s Spirit. Watch that, the good solid Gospel teaching pastors. That’s what we need. Amen. God help us to have it. God wants us to have it.

140 He said, “I can’t keep from Abraham, seeing that he’s the heir of the earth.” Amen. “I reveal My secrets,” other words, “to those who are heir of the earth.” That’s where the Church ought to be today. That’s right. Get the Secrets of God, know how to hold yourself, and act, and what to do, and how to walk, and how to live. We’re the heir of the earth. Right. He reveals It to you, ’cause He won’t keep nothing back. That’s why we’re watching these things come to pass. The world say, “Ah, that’s a bunch of fanaticism.” Let them say it. The heir of the earth knows these things.

    64-0705 THE.MASTERPIECE_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-4 N-7 SUNDAY_
194 Now here is the interpretation thereof. The reason… Now, remember, I had just got through writing… I hadn’t finished, I hadn’t wrote these notes yet. But in preaching, this morning, I caught what it was, right in my sermon. Did you notice, the church only came in view…Now, that’s the Truth, friends. The Heavenly Father, Who writes the Word, knows that I tell the Truth. See? I know I just say the Truth.
And not knowing it till just a few minutes ago, looked like, or just recently, see. Did you notice? The Bride come in view twice; the first Seed and the second Seed, both of them exactly the same One. And the reason they were dr’iff… dressed in different parts, She’ll come from all nations, it’ll make up the Bride. Each one had long hair, and no makeup, and real pretty girls. And they were watching me. That represented the Bride coming out of all nations. See? She, each one represented a nation, as they marched perfectly in line with the Word. See?
195 And, then, I have to watch Her. She’ll get out of step with that Word if I don’t watch, when She is passing by, if She gets by. Maybe it’ll be my time, when I’m over, see, when I’m finished, or whatever it is.
196 What? They was getting back. Trying their best, and was getting back, just get in line; ’cause, they–they was looking out somewhere else, watching about that church that just went out into chaos. But two… The front ones, never. The back ones, just two or three of them, was kind of stepped out a little bit to the right-hand side, and looked like was trying to get back in line as they went by. They was just past me, oh, far as here to the wall, past me. And I was standing there. And then I just seen it all move out and leave. But, you notice, the church only came into view once, each nation, the church. But the Bride come in twice. See, see what it was? Now, not knowing it, but look at it with my Message this morning. Not knowing that. See?

114 And so when a man lives by faith and walks by faith, I mean substance faith, he is isolated from the entire world and becomes a new creature in Christ. There, now you’re getting into Bride material. See? See? See? You’re getting into rapturing condition, now. That means for each one of us; not just the pastor, deacons, trustees. That means for the laity, every individual walks in a world with God alone. You’re baptized into this Kingdom, and there’s nobody in there but you and God. See? He gives the orders, and you pack them out. Whatever He says, there’s not a shadow of doubt nowhere, you walk right on. If the Lord says this, there’s nobody in the world can talk you out of it, you go right on just the same. Now you’re coming into Perfect Faith, perfect perfection that cannot fail. That faith never fails. Yes, He was a mystic to them with His Perfect Faith; and so is it now with those who have Perfect Faith, are a mystic to others.

    59-0403 LIVING.DYING.BURIED.RISING.COMING_ LOS.ANGELES.CA FRIDAY_
E-42 Listen friends, I’ll ask… take any student here to–to–to discuss that. The Scripture said that the Angel of God could only seal those who weeped and cried for the abominations did in the city. All that has read that, say, “Amen.” There it is. Just those who sigh and cry for the abominations of the city. “Oh,” you say, “I been a Pentecostal a long time.” That’s good. So have I. But brother, what about that spirit of concern about the lost world if you’re about the Father’s business. You say, “Well, I–I–I get a blessing every night.”
And if that good, humble, sweet, meek Spirit isn’t on you… What is the fruits of the Spirit? Love, peace, joy, long-suffering, goodness, gentleness, patience. Don’t take no chance. In the morning may be too late. A hour from now may be too late.
Why don’t you come now before there’s any healing service, before there’s anything. Come right down, say, “Lord, I want to get right. I want a Spirit in me that’ll make me love. I want a Spirit in me that’ll make me appreciate what Jesus did for me, insomuch that me heart will be tender and loving, and I can forgive the people from my heart, not because it’s a duty.”

    61-0108 REVELATION.CHAPTER.FOUR.3_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN ROJC 645-716 SUNDAY_
120 All right, here was “voices.” Oh, how we need in Jeffersonville thousands of lived voices, the thunder of God thundering out in sweetness and holiness, purity, undefiled lives, walking around in the earth today, without a blemish. Yes, sir, real Christians, that’s thunder against the enemy. The Devil don’t care how loud you can holler; the Devil don’t care how much you can jump or how much you can do this or shout. But what hurts the Devil is to see that sanctified, holy life consecrated to God; say anything to him, call him anything, just as sweet as it can be and move right on. Oh, my! That throws him away, that’s the thunder that shakes the Devil.
Just like, “Well,” you say, “if he could preach like a Billy Graham or an Oral Roberts, or somebody, a great influential speaker, he’d be… ” Oh, no! Sometimes the Devil just laughs at that. He don’t pay no more attention to that than nothing. You get all the theology–theology you wanted to and all the seminary training, and the Devil just sit back and laugh at it. But when he sees that Life!

    64-0830M QUESTIONS.AND.ANSWERS.3_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN COD SUNDAY_
68 Yes, the Holy Spirit uses these people as it’s appointed by His own Divine wisdom. But the first thing…
Now, what? Let me just give you a little twister here just a minute. I’d say, “How many has the Holy Ghost?” All of you raise up your hand. I’d say, “All right, I’ll see if you have.” The Bible said that they that had the Holy Ghost sighed and cried day and night for the abominations done in the city. Now, how many hands would go up? How many of you can’t rest at night, so full of joy and the power of God, and so sad for the people that’s lost, that day and night you weep and cry for the abominations? You won’t… See? Who would be that in the city? How many of that’s in the church? That’s what the Bible said the Holy Spirit evidence was.
70 He told the sealing Angels (Ezekiel 9, that’s right), He said, “Take… Go through the city and set a mark upon those who sigh and cry for the abominations did in the city. The rest of them, let the destroying Angel destroy them.” No matter how much members they was and how many of the things they done, said, “Put a…” And a man with–a ink horn writer, dressed in white (which represented the Holy Spirit) came forth and put a mark upon all them that sighed and cried for the abominations done in the city. Now, you say… And watch what he said in there also. “slay utterly, little children, old women, babies, kill them all.” Little children? Yes.
When Joshua entered the land of Canaan, he said, “Don’t you let one of them live. If it’s a cute little baby, a little Amalekite, or a Amorite, kill it. You remember, he’ll grow up to be an Amalekite; he’ll pollute the camp.” And when those little things come back like that disagreeing with the Word of God, get rid of that thing. I don’t care what denomination it belongs to.
You say, “Well, they’re good…” I don’t care how good a people they are. If they’re contrary to that Word, get the thing out of you. It’s a growing little Amalekite. Looks cute, looks innocent; it looks like it’s all right, but don’t you have anything to do with it. You stay away from it.
“Well, Brother Branham, I–I go down here, because… Well, I don’t…” You just remember, any Amalekite, anything that denies the Word, stay away from it; have nothing to do with it at all. How many believes that’s the truth? Sure it is. See? Stay away from it.
74 The sigh and cry for the abominations that’s did in the city… Where do you see that? I can show you ten thousand speaking in tongues to one that’s really burdened for sin… That can’t even pray a hour. But did you know the Bible said to mark only those who sighed and cried for the abominations in the city? How many ever read it? Sure. That was the Holy Spirit come forth to mark the people, and said to the destroying Angel, “Go forth and destroy everything that doesn’t have that mark upon them.” And the mark of God is the Holy Ghost; is a Seal of God.
Now, where is them people that’s that interested? I can show you people that jump up-and-down and cry in a church; I can show you people that shout and run all over the building; I can show you people that prophesy, and it comes to pass; I can show you those who speak in tongues, and–and run up and down the buildings, and say things that actually interpret and it comes to pass; but where is that person that sighs and cries for the abominations that’s did in the city? Where’s that burdened soul? You could turn some new leaves on that. See what I mean?

9Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

    Revelation 3 7-12

  15. Rebekah says:

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
